Choosing the correct genre for your photography is very important when considering your prospective clients’ needs for their next photographer. On the PhotoBooker platform, photographers can create portfolios within our 6 main photography genres, which host up to 39 subcategories.

Sports
The Sports Genre includes 3 different types of sports photography. Please click on the individual links to review genre descriptions.
RESIDENTIAL - Images should include residential real estate only, including images of single family dwellings, multi-family dwellings, condos and/or apartments
COMMERCIAL - Images should include commercial real estate only, such as office buildings, store-fronts, etc
AERIAL & DRONE - Aerial Images of residential, commercial, cityscapes, and/or landscapes
CORPORATE - These images will typically include people and tools used in the workplace, or workplace locations, including but not limited to board rooms or conferences related to work
BABY SHOWER - Posed or photojournalistic images celebrating an occasion for the arrival of a child. Baby shower photos may be before or after the arrival of the baby.
CONCERT - Live concert images of a musical performance for a live venue, band/musician, or media outlet
BAR/BAT MITZVAH - Posed or photojournalistic images of a Bar/Bat Mitzvah ceremony and celebration
PARTY - Posed or photojournalistic images of a party. May include family get-togethers, holiday parties, etc
GRADUATION - Generally cap & gown photos, both posed and in ceremony.
PROM - Images of a high school prom and/or formal dance. May include images of people and/or decor
THEATRE - Indoor or outdoor images of a live stage or street performance
BIRTHDAY - Posed or photojournalistic images of a birthday celebration
ANNIVERSARY - Posed or photojournalistic images of an anniversary celebration or occasion.
REUNION - Generally posed or photojournalistic images of family and/or class reunions.
RELIGIOUS - Images of a religious events including, but not limited to, baptismal, confirmations, first communions, baby dedications, and other religious ceremonies and services.
FAMILY - Generally includes two or more subjects in the photograph, can be both posed portraits or photojournalistic style portraiture. May include a single individual if not a headshot.
LIFESTYLE - Images that are candid in nature, using photojournalistic technique and natural light
MATERNITY - Images should include expectant mother. Images can include partner and/or other family members.
COUPLES - Images should be posed or photojournalistic images, including two individuals
HEADSHOTS - Formal or editorial headshots, usually photographed in a photography studio with neutral background and/or within the workplace. Headshots typically only show the subject’s mid-torso and above
SENIOR - Posed portraits or lifestyle photography of teenage subjects or young adults (college graduates) - typically includes one subject, but may include group photos of classmates
NEWBORN - Newborn images include newborns that are usually under the age of 12 weeks old. Any images of babies over the age of 12 weeks old, or babies that have reached development milestones such as sitting up, maintaining head/neck control, and or displaying mobility must be in the Children category. Newborn photos can be both posed or lifestyle portraits, and can include siblings or other family members.
CHILDREN - Each image must include at least one child (infancy - 17 years). Images of newborns (typically under the age of 12 weeks) should be added to the “Newborn” category. If any adults appear in images, these should be added to Family shoot type.
SCHOOL - Must include school portraits, including photojournalistic classroom photos, posed portraits, or class photos.
PET - Each image must include a domesticated pet (no wild animals in nature). Pet images may also include people, photographed alongside their pet.
WEDDINGS - Images of Weddings, which may include various parts of a wedding day such as getting ready, posed portraits, ceremony, reception.
ELOPEMENTS - Images may include marriage ceremonies of small weddings, courthouse weddings, and/or destination weddings
BRIDAL - Posed or candid portraits of brides on or before their wedding day
ENGAGEMENT - Images typically include two individuals, may include exchange of rings, ring photos, or group images with family and/or children.
FOOD - All images must include food, both plated and/or grown in nature. Photos may include images of people as well. Bottled or packaged food must be in the Product category.
ARCHITECTURE - Images may include buildings and other structures as subjects.
MODELING - Images of a model for a model's portfolio.
PRODUCT - Generally still life product images, but can include people who model the product
AUTOMOTIVE - Images must include motor vehicles
BUSINESS BRANDING - Images showcasing business and office lifestyle and/or branding and marketing examples
FASHION - Images may display clothing and other fashion articles, used for advertisements or fashion magazines.
DANCE - All images must display a dancer, either individually or in a group, in either a stage performance or studio. Images can be both action shots or posed costume portraits.
ACTION - Images of action sports in play including, but not limited to - sports games, matches, and/or races.
TEAM & INDIVIDUAL - Images typically include posed images of individual teammates or group photos
